We had a great time from the moment we arrived until the moment we had to leave. The house, the beach and the area was just what we were looking for and more; beauty, nature and luxurious surroundings. Judy and Mike were great hosts, making sure we had all we needed from getting there to helping us around the area and being a great resources in general.

The house is fantastic – luxurious but very eco-conscious. The bedrooms are FULL suites each with a patio view, cal-king bed and bath. And what special baths, you have to see them to appreciate the detail work. With wi-fi, satellite TV, flat screen TV, surround sound etc. we had the best of all worlds – nature, beauty, luxury, eco-friendly and hi-tech. We had 4 couples there and we all highly recommend this rental.

We were absolutely thrilled with our stay and experience at Castillo Escondido! We felt like we were staying at a 5 star resort. The amenities were impeccable and the property is truly beautiful. This multi-level tropical paradise exceeded all of our expectations. The 180 degree sea views from sunrise to sunset and whale watching from the private balcony off our master bedroom suite were beautiful.

Our master bedroom suite was one of four in the unique property layout. Relaxing by the infinity pool, spa and firepit was a favorite. Cocktails and sunsets at the palapa were a nightly event. We enjoyed being able to step right onto the beach from the property. We will definitely plan a return visit!

Castillo Escondido is a truly fantastic property. My recent stay was incredible. Each of the 4 Master Suites has a different theme and is beautifully appointed with a patio or balcony that overlooks the ocean. We watched whales migrate past the property. The beds were truly ‘heavenly’ and the showers and closets amazing. The kitchen/great room offers any and everything you could possibly want or need. Having a housekeeper daily to help was above and beyond our expectations.

The outdoor living space with the infinity pool, the very large palapa with comfortable furniture, the fantastic fire pit, the stairs to the gates that open to an incredible beach and the wonderful ocean views from all the outdoor areas make this a 6 star property. I plan to come back often. It is perfect for couples, families or a getaway with friends. There are terrific restaurants and great shopping nearby.

Paradise best describes our stay and experience at Castillo Escondido. The grounds are stunning and provide the privacy and all the amenities our family needed. We spent most of our time on the beach or lounging around the pool and spa. The kids enjoyed their very own wave runners, kayaks and ATV’s.

The staff was very helpful with tips to make our excursions more memorable. Although it’s located on a very private beach, it was an easy trip into town to get supplies. We barely left the place except to dine out and explore the trendy art scene in San Jose on Thursday night. Really, who needs Cabo? I give it a two thumbs up!! We’ll be back.

We stayed for a week last march with 3 adults and 5 teenagers! We had a blast! We played volleyball out front on the beach, walked to a nice casual dinning spot for some meals, rented a ping pong table to entertain the kids and had a great time. Our hosts Mike and Judy were there to make everything go smoothly from filling our fridge with groceries to helping drive us around. We would do this trip in an instant. Ideal for 2 families or 4 couples! Lots of room.

We rented this house for a bachelorette party and we had an amazing time. The house is awesome! All the rooms are very similar; large, well appointed with a master bath & view. The finishings are highend. The sound system was great and we had our ipod playing out by the pool area. We spent most of the time outside lounging. The owners are so wonderful (they live on the property behind the house in a casita). They are friendly and helpful without being intrusive. Having them on the property made us feel safe. We ran out of food and they went to go to the store for us (we did not have a rental car). They also arranged different activities for us (massages at the house, a cook to make meals).

It seemed like only about 10 minutes drive from the center of San Jose del Cabo. But as our hosts drove us down the hill into the tiny seaside enclave of La Laguna it was like entering another world. It’s a hideaway, “Rich and Famous” style. But it didn’t matter that we are actually neither because we decided to share the Castillo Escondido with old friends and it turned out to be the consummate bargain on a reunion get-a-way.

When you arrive behind the gates, you pass a splashing fountain and this sunny, tranquil vibe starts to set in. Then you walk through the parapet entry, onto the upper deck, and the view that meets your eyes is positively jaw-dropping. In the foreground, the infinity pool and spa, beyond it to the right a cozy sunken fire pit, off to the left, a shady retreat under a thatch-roofed pallapa. But then, commanding your whole center field of vision, stretching as far as you can see, is the open Pacific Ocean.

It was whale migration time when we were there. That lasts most of the winter and you’re right at the very tip of the Baja peninsula. There are dozens of different kinds of whales and they come down to the Sea of Cortez to have their young and then take them back to Alaska, so they have to come right by here. We saw whales off and on all day.

The guest rooms are arranged like separate bungalows, each with its own entry and deck area, so you can easily slip away with a book and have your solitude. The bathrooms are spectacular–all tile and marble with large, very…sexy?…shower spaces. You’ll just have to see them and judge for yourself! Then there’s the equally huge great-room and kitchen at one end with views of the whole property.

The Castillo is only a couple years old, so everything is new and spotless and the owner / hosts–a fun couple from California–are absolutely great. There is nothing bad to say about this place. I wish I could live there. We WILL be back!
